Suggested Registration Donation: $35 ( A donation button is on the home page of David’s website: www. theorthodoxpath.com)
“The Ladder of Divine Ascent” is a 7th-century text that outlines 30 steps toward spiritual perfection. It was written by St. John Climacus, an Eastern Orthodox monk, and is considered an important guide for monastic life. However, its teachings can be challenging for laypeople to apply to their daily lives. In”30 Steps to Heaven,” Archimandrite Vassilios bridges this gap by explaining the concepts of
“The Ladder of Divine Ascent” in a way that is accessible and relevant to modern Christians, regardless of their background or lifestyle. He provides practical advice and insights on how to integrate these ancient teachings into everyday life, helping us to grow in our faith and draw
closer to God.
Key Themes we will explore together in this Retreat:
>. Spiritual Growth and Transformation
>. Virtues and Vices
>. Asceticism and discipline
>. Prayer and Contemplation
>. Theosis (becoming like God and experiencing union with God)
This Retreat will be a great aide to making this Great Lent a real commitment to growing in our
spiritual life as well as an opportunity to support each other in our ascetical practices.
NOTE: IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PURCHASE THE BOOK! David will provide a summary of
each chapter for our discussion as well as sending out discussion questions to ponder before
each session.
ALSO NOTE: IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SESSIONS ON THURSDAYS
YOU CAN STILL REGISTER AND DAVID WILL SEND YOU THE RECORDINGS FOR EACH
SESSION THE NEXT DAY.
